Job Openings 

To apply for a job with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the applicant must complete a Experience and Training Records and any additional documentation.  Completed Experience and Training Records with any additional documentation should be sent to the Mississippi State Personnel Board, 301 North Lamar Street, Suite 203, Jackson, Mississippi 39201.  Applicants may apply online through the State Personnel Board's website.  Click here to apply online. 

 

In order for all State and/or Federal requirements to be met, the MS State Personnel Board will accept and evaluate all applications and place eligible applicants on the appropriate list.  This list will then be routed through the Mississippi Forestry Commission's Human Resources Department to the appropriate location for action.

 

Current Openings (Must apply through State Personnel Board):

  • The Mississippi Forestry Commission is accepting applications for one (1) Forester III position.  This position is located in the Capital District in Rankin County, will act as an Assistant District Forester, and will report directly to the District Forester. The beginning salary of this position is $40,121.62.  Any person interested in applying for this vacancy, or transferring laterally, may do so between 8:00 a.m., August 23, 2010, and 5:00 p.m., September 10, 2010.   All applicants must complete an Experience and Training Record and submit a copy of their current registered forester certification with the application.  Employees wishing to transfer laterally must also submit a request to transfer within this timeframe. Requests to transfer must be submitted through the requesting employees chain of command and then to the MFC Human Resources Department.  Completed Experience and Training Records and any additional documentation should be sent to the Mississippi State Personnel Board, 201 North Lamar St., Suite 203, Jackson, MS  39201.

     

  • The Mississippi Forestry Commission is accepting applications for one (1) Forestry Technician I position. This is a time-limited, non-state service position, funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the use of GPS to locate, map, and evaluate land in need of hazardous fuel removal throughout the southern part of the state.  This position will be under the direct supervision of the ARRA Hazard Mitigation Program Coordinator.  The beginning salary of the Forestry Technician I is $26,121.94.  If you have specific questions about this position, please contact Mr. Ben Vanderford at 601-420-6000 or 601-213-8315. Current Openings (Apply through local District Office):

  • The Southeast District is accepting applications for a Forest Ranger I position located in Harrison County.  This position start salary is $18,843.18.  Applications for this position should be mailed to Roger D. Wood, Forestry Technician II, 14601 County Farm Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Anyone interested in applying may do so between August 17th, 2010 and no later than August 30th, 2010, 5:00 p.m.  Please be aware that you must notify your Service/Area Forester if you are interested in transferring to another county.
