To apply for a job with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the applicant must complete an Experience and Training Records and any additional documentation.

In order for all State and/or Federal requirements to be met, the MS State Personnel Board will accept and evaluate all applications and place eligible applicants on the appropriate list.  This list will then be routed through the Mississippi Forestry Commission's Human Resources Department to the appropriate location for action.

 

Current Openings: 

  • The Southeast District of the Mississippi Forestry Commission is accepting applications for one (1) Forester I position.  This position is located in Forrest County and will report directly to the District Forester.  The starting salary for this position is $29,804.14.  Any individuals interested in applying for, or laterally transferring to, this position may submit their applications between February 9, 2012 and February 22, 2012.   Requests to transfer must be submitted through the requesting employees chain of command and then to the MFC Human Resources Department.  All applicants must complete an application.  Employees wishing to transfer laterally must also submit a request to transfer within this timeframe.  All applicants/transfers must also include a copy of their current registered forester’s card with their application.

 

  • The Northwest District is accepting applications for one (1) Forester I position located in Panola County.  This position will report directly the District Forester and will have a beginning salary of $29,804.14.  Anyone interested in applying or transferring may do so between February 9, 2012 and February 22, 2012.   All applicants must complete an application and include a copy of their Registered Forester’s Certification.  Employees wishing to transfer laterally must also submit a request to transfer within this timeframe.  Requests to transfer must be submitted through the requesting employees chain of command and then to the MFC Human Resources Department.

 

  • The Mississippi Forestry Commission is accepting applications for one (1) Deputy State Forester.  This position is located in the East Central District, Philadelphia, MS.  The starting salary for this position is $52,585.54.  This is a non-state service position reporting directly to the agency’s executive director.  This is administrative and supervisory work in managing a ten county area.   All applicants/transfers must also include a copy of their current registered forester’s card with their application. Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry and six years of experience as a professional forester.
